Collison: Time to show what we can do

Jack Collison feels it's time for Wales' promising youngsters to step up and show what they can do.

Looking forward to the friendly match against Estonia at Parc y Scarlets on Friday night, the West Ham midfielder claimed it was an ideal opportunity for the youngsters in John Toshack's squad.

"We had a great run with the under-21s and we picked up some massive results," he told Sgorio.

"There's been a lot of talk for a long while now about a lot of good young players coming through so I think the time's come to go out nd show what we are about."

Collison, 20, missed the last two qualifying games against both Finland and Germany because of a knee injury, but he is expected to win his fifth cap against Estonia on Friday.

"The injury came at the worst possible time for me," he said. "I was having a good run in the team and unfortunately I had to miss the last two games, but I'm back, fit and raring to go."

"I don't think it's all about the result, maybe, in this one (against Estonia). I think it'd be good to have a really positive performance and maybe a few of the boys make their debuts, then we can go out to Azerbaijan and get a result out there."

And he admitted thart there wouldn't be any problem motivating himself for the game against Estonia.

"We're proffesionals, we prepare for every game, but more so when it's Wales," he added.

"There's something special - an extra incentive - when you pull on a Wales shirt."
